About

Ian Soutar, inventor of the Mind Body Harmonizer, worked for the National Research Council in Ottawa instrumenting solar energy collection systems from 1984-1985. He founded Microsec R&D in 1986 to provide product design services for inventors and industry. He is partners with another inventor Ed Haslam and both do microcontroller based product designs. They have been granted 6 patents for unique designs.

Currently Microsec R&D Inc. is doing manufacturing of their own products for relieving stress and helping with relaxation, and to promote healing through pulsed magnetic fields or PEMF.

  • I used it daily for a year to boost concentration while refining the Harmonizer design. I was using my own prototypes to boost my design abilities. A bootstrapping method!

  • I am experiencing positive effects and am totally delighted with my purchase. Helps with sleep, concentration, memory etc.

  • Love the new 40 Hz setting. Very relaxing.

  • seems to help concentration and awarness. also i seem to be sleeping better although that has never been a problem with me.

  • Hi Ian,
I want you to know that I am pleased with the Harmoniser. I’m coming to the end of my two-week period of using it twice a day. So far I’ve just been using the Standard 40 hertz frequency. I haven’t yet explored the other two. I would say that the greatest benefit so far has been not getting into a negative state that hangs on for hours or days. There must be more firing of the synapses and I now have help in dealing with stress, without all the complexity of trial and error as well as the side effects from medication.
I also feel that my stress level has gone down and there are times that the Harmoniser has promoted a state of relaxation that allows pleasant images to float through my mind and then a good night’s sleep. Conversely, when I use it in the morning, along with my coffee it helps me to wake up, Some time I’ll have to try the Harmoniser without the coffee!.
So far I don’t think it’s helped me with my memory, although there might be a small change. My short-term memory certainly has deteriorated. And also when I made the huge mistake of getting laser done on my throat for sleep apnea, my thyroid was almost non-functioning for a long time and my sleep apnea became so bad that my oxymetry reading went down to the 60’s. at night. Before that mutilation my oxygen level was always normal, despite the sleep apnea So you see, Ian, my poor brain has endured a lot. Anyway, I hope some of this will be helpful to you

    Cheers, Monica

  • Hi there,

My counsellor referred me to this device,” for anxiety due to stress. I’m from Victoria and I’m wondering if I can pick one up locally?

Is there any return policy on devices if they do not work for stress? I also suffer from chronic migraines and I’m worried this device may aggravate them?

  • I am very thankful I found this device, I feel completely flipped from how I was two weeks ago. From not wanting to get out of bed to happy, healthy and back to my old hobbies. Thank you for this bringing this technology to Canada, I hope others find it as helpful as I have.

  • What are the legal issues? Is it legal for a physician to use a device which has not been approved by Health Canada on their patients with appropriate consent?

    • A physician cannot promote it but if the patient decides to use a harmonizer they can study the results. On the other hand psychologists and counsellors can recommend it.

  • Hello Ian

I received my Harmonizer from my wonderful mum (Nutan) on one of my rest and retreat visits to her place. I have chronic pain, herniated disk, and have been diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. For years I was on conventional medications for these “disorders” and they only made the symptoms seem exaggerated and I felt awful on them. So in the last 5 years I have been treating holistically instead. This addition of the harmonizer has cleared the brain fog. It has restored my thinking to a point where I feel focused and connected. I use the meditation or relax settings. Thank you so much for this device it is a major tool I use for managing …

  • I am a psychologist who uses ces in sessions. My alpha stim has died. Is this product comparable?

  • How quickly do you ship to the States?

  • How is this unit different from Dr. Art Martin’s in CA. I am looking to purchase one.

  • Hiya’ Ian,

So pleasant to see your smiling face again! It’s Joe, from the MAPS Salvia studies way back when.
I’d like to try a session with the Harmonizer. I’m here in Victoria, so that probably works for you, no?

I’m far progressed into my Nichirenist practice, and I think trialing the Harmonizer with sutra recitation might be a novel test condition. I’m eager to try!

  • Very similar to the DR BOB BECK SOTA BT7 CES unit.

  • Hard to believe this actually exists. I had a lucid dream the other morning wherein a woman seemed to be doing yoga in mid air, she had a device on her hip and two connectors to her head and when I asked her how she was doing it, she pointed to the device and said… “this little device alters brainwaves to precisely the frequency required to float free of the conviction of gravity”. She asked me if I wanted to try it and I responded, “well I am not sure I trust the battery in that little thing but maybe I’ll try it from ground level”. In Googling 40hz Theta brainwave devices I came across your website and device. It is remarkable to know you have created such a thing. Do you have an update on their availability as of ‘now’? Thanks

Is there a difference between how effective this machine would be compared to the mind body Harmonizer?
What interests me about the BrainMax is that it is capable of many frequencies and also it uses a cd/mp3 player.
What interests me about the Harmonizer is that its actually available for sale.
    Thank You

  • I will be in Victoria this weekend, can I purchase one tomorrow?

  • Hello
Does the Brain Body Harmonizer had effect on depression ?
    And bipolar 2 disorder ?
I am curious about the 100 hz and 40 hz .
    Kind regards
    Jacqueline

    • Health Canada won’t allow me to answer that question because only Health Canada approved devices can say. That process doubles or triples the cost! 40 Hz is the resonant frequency of a healthy normal brain as shown in leading edge studies. We are relying on leading edge neurology to guide us. Health Canada approved devices were approved a decade ago. If they were to rely on leading edge neurology they would lose their approvals!

So i will have to let you read the research and decide!

      Thanks for your interest!

  • Your application is very useful however in “6 January 2018 NewScientist” magazine they report that the use of 40hz sound, light pulsation and possibly vibration increases gamma waves that can possibly “reduce deposits of amyloid and tau proteins – key features of Alzheimers disease.” This is way more valuable than simple relaxation therapy. I hope you can use this observation for your product.

  • Hi, can I use the harmonizer while sleeping to induce lucid dream? I heard that 40hz stimulation in rem sleep can induce lucid dreaming.
